One of the objectives of Wicked Lovely Films is that we educate by creating awareness. As such, for every project we undertake, we seek to create and incorporate an educational component for a specific population. This educational component can take the form of any medium, including theatrical, film, new media, museum science and classroom-based curriculums. Whatever the medium, our goal is to explore and share new or latent knowledge within an innovative context.  Below is a listing of some of our documentary projects and campaigns.  For more information about our education programs, visit www.poetrydiscovers.wordpress.com.  Be A Heroine Campaign

Picture
There are many ways to define strength, and some of our world’s greatest heroes have saved the world without a cape or sword. In Repass, a 7-year-old girl saves her family by simply facing the truth of a tragedy. “Be A Heroine” is an educational workshop that celebrates the different ways that people can be heroes, in their families and in their communities.  We look forward to working with girls organizations like Catapult, Girls for Change or 10X10 in building a campaign that reflects on the heroines of our past and encourages girls to be heroines  of the future within their community.

Untitled California Libraries
Documentary
In Development

In February 2013, the Los Angeles Public Library instituted and dispersed a survey to patrons of the library. The survey only asked 3 questions: how has the library touched your life, what is your dream for the future library, if you don’t use the library, what thing would bring you to the library? A few patrons filled out the survey and took it to the desk, most glanced at it, and others ignored it as they continued typing on their computers. A librarian came forward and urged those to complete the survey; she told them: “It’s your library. This is your chance to tell them what you want them to do.” Certainly there are some citizens who do not fully comprehend the value of the community of the library, but sadly there also are patrons of the library who do not as well. The California libraries are a cornerstone of our community, but its significance is changing particularly with our youth as the world moves forward into a more technological sphere. By revisiting the past, reflecting on the present and imagining a future for the libraries we make room for the culture of the libraries to grow and expand. This documentary seeks to explore its role with our youth and to remind them that the libraries are a public privilege that is meant to serve them, but the strength of its service relies on their voices.
